Michelle McEwen
It was quite literally by chance that Michelle found the landscape industry all those years ago. It started just as a fun job in the Squamish Parks Dept for the summer; and a way to be outside working on her tan. Little did she know she would be surrounded by passionate plant people who became mentors and lifelong friends. She knew right away that THIS is where she was supposed to be.
So she changed gears and continued her education in horticulture & arboriculture. Her travels and varied work experiences along the way lead her down a career path that, even after 28 yrs, she still truly loves what she does!!
Education remains as a cornerstone for Michelle and she is grateful to still be learning new things every day. She continues to be humbled by her work and forever appreciates to be able to work with such a great team. She also prefers to talk about trees & plants rather than about herself. So if you ask her about her favourite tree....they’ll probably be way too many to choose just one. But a few that top the list are the Rock Elm (Ulmus thomasii); Maidenhair Tree (Gingko biloba); Japanese Umbrella Pine (Sciadopitys verticillata); and the Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii).
In her down time she can be found spending time with friends; camping & road trips (would love to do more if she worked less); laughing at all your jokes and still gardening for fun!!

Shelby Yaky
Shelby was born and raised in Squamish, B.C, and moved to North Vancouver fifteen years ago. She has a diploma in Forestry and Natural Areas Management from BCIT and a BSc in Ecological Restoration. For the past eight years, she has worked at Radix Tree and Landscape Consulting Inc as the Arborist and Administration Assistant. She loves learning new and exciting things about the environment around her. When Shelby isn’t at the computer or out with the trees, she spends her time working on various arts & crafts projects, dancing, and playing with her dog, Nellie.

Brittany Dempsey
Brittany was introduced into the Radix family in May of 2021. Born and raised in Squamish, she’s never been a stranger to the wild, beautiful green world found in our own backyards. Never being the type to be accepting of idle hands, Brittany has found lifelong satisfaction through knitting, cross-stitching, music, and dance classes. A dog mom to Archie and lover of all beasts (except snakes), she’s never met a small or large animal that she hasn’t momentarily considered cuddling. When Michelle & Shelby mentioned there may be an opportunity to join one of the happiest teams ever to unite under one roof, she jumped at the chance. Brittany is looking forward to assisting you with all of your needs and concerns, whatever they may be.
